Vydle Opposes Dolphin Slaughter & Illegal Whaling Operations
Posted on January 12th, 2010 No comments
Vydle was shocked to find out that dolphins and whales are still being slaughtered in the tens of thousands each year, in direct defiance of International Whaling Commission regulations. We found out about this while watching a moving and eye-opening documentary called “The Cove.” Director Louie Psihoyos makes our very own Boulder, Colorado his home. Other members of this brave crew include Colorado climber Joe Chisholm, who is staff of the Colorado-based Oceanic Preservation Society. Check out this PSA from the OPS:
Vydle feels very strongly that we must not tolerate the killing of these sentient marine creatures any longer. We call upon the U.S. government and the governments of the rest of the world to force Japan (and a few others) to stop violating whaling prohibitions. These creatures do not belong to any one government or people. They are their own sovereign entities, fellow living beings sharing this planet with us. We ask you to add your voice to ours today.
The danger doesn’t stop with cetaceans. The flesh of those 23,000 dolphins per year is being marketed as whale meat, but it holds mercury levels that are exponentially higher than the maximum safe levels allowed. Mercury poisoning has been demonstrated to cause horrible birth defects and even death.
To find out more about these issues, you may want to visit the SaveJapanDolphins.org blog.
Cudos to Louie and the rest of the people involved in making The Cove!

Vydle Concert at Centerra to Benefit Larimer Humane Society
Posted on December 7th, 2009 1 commentThe band is pleased to perform for the Larimar Humane Society this coming January 2nd, 2010 The band will play within the Centerra Mall, in front of Barnes & Noble Bookstore, taking the stage for about an hour, beginning at 6 pm. We hope you will come out to support this very worthy cause.
The Larimer Humane Society receives no free money from any government agency. They are funded through donations and adoption fees, and fees charged in exchange for providing animal control services within the county. The staff of sixty tends to over 8,000 animals every year, and places (or returns to their owners) more than half of them. The sad truth is that there are still thousands every year which must be destroyed because there just aren’t enough homes to go around, and funds are limited. We cannot keep allowing the breeding to go unchecked! The unwanted dogs and cats are the ones to suffer for people’s irresponsibility. Please, spay or neuter your pet, and adopt one in need of a home!
